After months of jam-packed weekends, we slowed way down on Friday to enjoy...
Leftover homemade split pea soup and bread -- the perfect it's-Friday-and-I'm-too-tired-to-cook meal.
Popcorn and hot chocolate to go with Game Night, declared by Eldest and Middlest, who pooled the last of their allowance to buy Monopoly.
Two three-hour long games. (Half that time I spent in jail.)
Peanuts' holiday specials on DVD -- "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," "The Mayflower Voyage," and "I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown." (I have to say, I do appreciate the newer specials, simply because the kids are less likely to use the word "stupid" in reference to their friends and siblings...)
Repeat twice. Try not to get so distracted by Snoopy that the banker takes your Monopoly money.
A little Christmas knitting in between turns!
And, of course, a few headstands on the couch for good measure.

I'm a little confused...so the newer specials are better in that they don't use the word stupid, etc? I thought all the newer shows were more of that not less so this is good to know, if I'm understanding right.
sounds like a fun night...our new favorite game is puppy-opoly!!!!! even Riley can play it :)
Jill -- yes, I think the newer ones have less "stupid." There was an older Christmas episode tacked on as a special feature on the disk of the newer "I Want a Dog," and I lost count of how many times the word "stupid" popped up in the *old* show.
yes Lucy calls Snoopy a stupid beagel alot in those older show, but they are good non the less. Compared to what is being made in other cartoons today. WE love Charlie Brown.The Mayflower video is really good and really gives the kids a great perceptin of the struggels indured by the pilgrims, and Charles Shultz was and his family still are devote christians and the shows are not afraid to give mention of god.
Toni -- I guess it's our modern sensibilities that makes us sensitive to the word "stupid." :)
I do love that Shultz always has Linus or another character explaining the true meaning of Christmas, and yes, the Mayflower episode was excellent!
my daughter uses the word stupid so much more than my son does. and they pretty much watch the same stuff on tv. i guess they just say what they say!
