We have been busy, busy, busy around here. Changes are coming along, and the boys have been happily distracted with too much television, regular doses of ice cream, dino poo, the return of their Papa, and a new pool in the backyard.
There's still plenty of chaos around here -- and we're ready to get away from it for a few days. It's time to go camping!
We started tent camping with the boys two years ago, and now it's one of our favorite things to do. We've gone to a few favorite state campgrounds near the beach, where the weather is 20 degrees cooler than at home. My parents come along with their camper, which makes it feel luxurious!
I am SO looking forward to exploring with the boys, making s'mores, reading and knitting by the campfire, being outside without sweating...! I picked up this fabulous book: Camp Out! The Ultimate Kids' Guide. It's packed full of recipes, nature study and crafts ideas, scouting skills to learn -- everything you can imagine needing on a camping trip and more.
Hopefully I'll come back with lots to share with you! I'll be taking my camera, of course, but not my laptop. I think that would defeat the purpose of a nature getaway. But I do have a couple posts scheduled, since I'm still catching up after this past week's disappearance.
And before we go... I couldn't call myself a Harry Potter fan if I didn't mention my excitement and anticipation about the film release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"! The night before a camping trip may not be the best time to head to the movies, but we're going to try.
In the meantime, I think I'd better search through my yarn stash and find something I can use to knit myself the latest Hermione hat while sitting by the campfire!
oh man- i love camping. and getting to camp at a cooler location?!? now that's an idea!
